Principles of Freedom in Education have never been more important.

Our Utah education system should reflect the constitutional principles that all men are created equal and this should extend to instructional and curricular materials.  HB427 accomplishes this!

Reasons to support this bill are listed, but not limited to the following:

HB 427 sets a high standard for the Utah Education system by ensuring that our system is guided by:

    • the principle that all individuals are equal before the law and have inalienable rightsand the following principles of individual freedom:
      • that no individual is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously, solely by virtue of the individual’s race, sex, or sexual orientation;
      • that no race is inherently superior or inferior to another race;
      • that no person should be subject to discrimination or adverse treatment solely or partly on the basis of the individual’s race, color, national origin, religion, disability, sex, or sexual orientation;
      • that meritocracy or character traits, including hard work ethic, are not racist but fundamental to the right to pursue happiness and to be rewarded for industry; and
      • that an individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, does not bear responsibility for actions that other members of the same race or sex committed in the past or present.”
  1. This bill is stunningly written, encompasses the system, and it’s forthright, simple and righteously honors the EQUALITY OF MAN, no matter their race and the fact that we are and always should be equal before the law.
    •  It also secures the 5th Amendment to the United States Constitution for all children.
  2. This bill will establish that racist actions are wrong.
  3. It protects teachers from erroneous allegations as HB427 holds the system to high standards AND academic freedom (lines 103-105).
  4. Our state should uphold these high standards in all areas, but especially in the teaching of children who are susceptible to influence.
  5. This is a WIN for teachers and a WIN for students, but most of all it is a WIN for ALL of UTAH as we set the standard of excellence in education.
